Summer Teaching/Extra Compensation

Personnel & Employment

  • Summer Teaching/Extra Compensation

  • Extra compensation includes: faculty teaching during the summer or intersession, other faculty extra-compensatory activities, and summer teaching extra compensation.
  • The University recognizes that faculty members will occasionally undertake work that is distinctly beyond their regular responsibilities. Such work may occur during the standard academic year or may be undertaken during the winter or summer breaks.
  • The Policy on Extra Compensation establishes the standards under which full-time faculty performing such additional assignments may receive extra compensation.
  • The policy does not disallow or preclude national or international awards of excellence, however, awards or prizes established by the University should not exceed $5,000 during the academic year and are not considered part of a faculty member’s base salary.
