Freedom of Information

As a public university and State Agency, UConn is subject to the requirements of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act. This means that any record created or maintained by UConn faculty or staff is presumed to be available to the public, except under very limited circumstances. This includes emails.  This also includes electronic records considered to be University business even if they are created on your home or personal computer.

The FOI webpage maintained by the Office of Audit, Compliance & Ethics outlines the procedures to be followed if you are asked to provide any information or documents in UConn’s possession under the Freedom of Information Act.

If you are asked to provide any information or documents under the Freedom of Information Act, please contact the Office of Audit, Compliance and Ethics immediately for advice and direction before turning over any documents.

Under a 1989 State of Connecticut statue, teaching performance evaluations are not subject to FOI disclosure.
